Intellectual/Developmental

People with this disability experience limitations in their ability to think, reason, concentrate, perceive or understand certain concepts. Memory, information processing, problem solving and emotional maturity may also be affected. Intellectual/ Developmental disabilities may be evident from birth, may become evident during childhood and/or may be caused by conditions such as Down syndrome, autism or cerebral palsy. Employers should keep in mind that people with intellectual/developmental disabilities function at various levels and the majority have only a mild degree of disability.
